Re: 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic Progress Photo's aka Mali
It was pretty nasty & stinky did U see the before pic?
I still can't believe they got it looking as good as they did. When I get it all buttoned up I'll take another vid to let you hear it roar.

Wow...it's been a while but I did some work recently! Inner fender wells....75% there. Using POR 15 (again) will be followed by a repair to a mount hole for under the battery tray of course & then primer & paint. Anyone suggest a good primer color to put under black so it won't take as much to cover the primer? (I was thinking dark gray or brown?)

Re: 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic Progress Photo's aka Mali
After Por 15...one is almost complete just the underside to finish. Used JB "Stick" epoxy to form the missing/corroded lip that bolts to frame by the coolant overflow res that the batt tray rests over. I was very happy with it and it used about 1/2 the stick so a $2.50 repair. Sanded it smooth- still needs the bolt hole drilled but the stuff was amazing. Rock hard/sandable within 10 minutes.
Has anyone used the "textured or rubberized" undercoating on the wheel well? I'm debating leaving it smooth but am afraid of chipping down the line...

Very nice progress. As far as under inner fenders I had mine Rhino lined. More durable and cuts down on road noise a little more. By the way be careful with the Hooker ceramic headers. I tried 2 pairs and they did not fit. They told me my frame must be bent. I wound up using another companies ceramic coated but I'm drawing a blank but I'll let you know after checkin receipts.

Very nice. My dad took the fender wells for his 70 Chevelle to be chemically dipped (stripped) and e-coated. Haven't gotten them back yet. Cant wait to see them.

LOL Kyle. Yes...yes it is.
Thanks Budman. I have a set of old hookers (Wait...I have to get that image out of my mind)...They came w/ the car & they fit good aside from having to jack up the car a-lot & having no space to work on the starter on the other side. I think I'm going to look a either shorties or GM style exh. manifolds if I can find good ones for a Vortec set up. Let me know what you dig up- much appreciated.

By the way I went the Q-jet route also. Can't beat a timeless piece of GM equipment can you.

Kinda hard to see but here they are. Engine side blasted primed and trim blacked. Tire side is Rhino lined smoother than a pickup box and then UV sprayed for easier cleaning.

Re: 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic Progress Photo's aka Mali
Thanks Budman- they look good. I'm going to try it out while mine are still off the car. That looks like a nice tight grain like they did it at GM did you roll it on or spray it?

Re: 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic Progress Photo's aka Mali
No i took it to Rhino Lining. It is a franchise like Line-x or many other ones out there. They normally do spray in pickup bed liners. I had them do the whole underside of my body before I put it on the frame. The underside looks just like the fender wells. Should cut way down on the road noise between that on the B-Quiet I put inside the car.

My "New" Old Dash from a 73 Monte donor (had it since last summer) just now refurbishing. Going w/ a Dash Cap that I ordered. Will post more before & after pics when it's completed. Will be fixing the HVAC face plate, blacking-out the chrome on the vents, swapping out the idiot light gauge cluster for a working gauge & tach unit & removing the wood grain veneer....Giggity.....

Re: 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic Progress Photo's aka Mali
Mali I used a headlight polisher to claen up the scratches on my gauge lenses if that helps. Can't tell if you have any but if so it worked great.

I've never seen a dash like that. Had an SS Elco with round gauges etc, but not as nice as that one, and no wood-grain either.

Re: 1977 Chevelle Malibu Classic Progress Photo's aka Mali
I don't need any wood grain, but thanks anyway. That SS is long-gone !! My Elco project is a '75, with a '77 Classic interior, and it has the wood grain dash insert. The wood grain looks OK in some instances, but seems better without it in some others.
