Re: rear end
I would say yes but the GP rear is probably going to be about 1/2" to 1" wider, backing plate to backing plate. Dont know why but I have a monte rear in my chevelle right now and its slightly wider than my stock rear. It will bolt in, probably just a pinch wider. Wont make a difference unless your running a rim offset that just makes it in the wells.

Re: rear end
a little wider isn't a big deal since i haven't decided on wheels yet

Re: rear end
Off subject...but the 94-96 impala SS rear ends...are the shock mounts the only difference...well..bolt pattern, too? I know it's like a 1/2 inch wider... Tried a search...

Re: rear end
I have a 1995 impala rear end in the 1974 I just bught. Here its is as I was sand blasting it. It was in the car with only shock bolts and two lower controll arm bolts no nuts.
Its up in now. The bolt pattern is 5 on 5 and he took the front controll arms and all off the impala also so at least all four wheel will be the same for me. I don't know if its wider or not just know it fits.

Re: rear end
Wait, but I thought the shock locations after '72 were behind the axle, not in front of...? Not 100% sure though, can anyone shed light on this one?

Re: rear end
Just to clarify. Will an axle from a 67 - 72 a-body fit under our cars?

Just wondering if you had to change anything at all on that swap. If I made a similar swap would I use the control arms from my 74 or from the donor car?

Re: rear end
I meant the front control arms/spindals. He used the rear ones from the 74. I did not do the swap my self is was sitting in there with only 4 bolts no nuts. I removed and replaced it after sandblasting and painting it. There was another post on here about doing a swap. To my knowledge its a bolt in swap. for the impala rear end. All though the bolt pattern for wheels is 5on5 so you will need to address that.
