my current project
Well since i'm pretty much working with no budget nowadays I really have to get creative if I want to work on my car. So here goes my parts scrounging.

" />
what I have is my console I got for the price of shipping ($25.00) it didn't come with a box so mcarlo77 hooked me up on that. I just scored the Hurst T-handle from eBay for a whopping $5.00 (it really helps when the seller leaves off important info and you have to inquire about things like what threads it has) The shifter plate I am in the process of making, what do you think? I used sheet metal from a old dish washer I scrapped.

" />
I am thinking of putting one of my old fender emblems in front of the shifter when completed. it will all be painted / dyed black.

Re: my current project
Thanks guys. I really enjoy making something that is not available.. in this case a '77 Monte Carlo console set up for a Hurst dual gate shifter.

LOL
Sometimes
gets those creative juices going & helps focus.
Now you just need to start engraving that w/ some funky@$$ 70's styling.

Re: my current project
I'm planning on putting one of the original fender emblems on it, what else? Cover it in shag? Maybe some funky scroll pinstriping? I like retro but, I do have limits. Some things from the '70's were plain in excusible (Afro's, bell bottoms, fender flairs, brown & orange kitchens) I could go on....77mali wrote:LOL

Don't forget the dingo balls hanging from the headliners as a trim that was back in the day.

I always thought that I would have loved to have been earlier so I could have enjoyed these cars when they were new!

Re: my current project
They used fake fur on the roof for headliners also. Mostly white to show all the dirt let alone some guys still used brill cream in their hair.
They would paint the wheel wells white and put a fog light in them to light up the wheel well.
So you see the neon underground lights you see on cars now are just a circle of life that was done before.

Re: my current project
We uh put dingle balls in a '75 lesabre back in the '90's. Believe it or not a lot of people said they liked it and asked where we got them from. Note: the rest of the interior was OE and in good shape.

Re: my current project
I was waiting for a pic of cheech and chong. Remember the up in smoke '64 impala SS? michael Jackson and Freddy mercury did both have uh questionable tastes and life styles....probably contributing to why both are now dead.

The above is why both Cheech & Chong are still with us

Re: my current project

so I finally finished body work on my new hood. I don't have money for paint right now, so for safe keeping my buddy and I put it on yesterday. It is a '73 elcamino hood I got off craigslist (thanks 73montec for the posting link8)) and the scoops were from a '67 buick gran sport 400, that I scored cheap from eBay because a few studs were broken, and the chrome was pitted.

The top may be ugly and unfinished, but that's not the case with the bottom. I totally stripped the paint (top and bottom) the bottom is semigloss black with the inserts painted stone grey satin for a little contrast.

Here's a different angle, I wish they were "real" but they weren't real even on the original application.
