exhaust swap
anyone know if the single exhaust off a 73 will work on a 71?
Minty has a good exhaust with a good y pipe, but has a glass pack, while the 71 4 dr has a rusted out crumbly exhaust with factory muffler. Minty actually sounded good.

look un der your 70 and your 73 at the trans tunnel, floorboards, and braces also look for places to mount it, as long as it is close and dosent look like it will hit anything it should work, but i dont know?? besides tubing is tubing you can cut and weld how you want it

The 71 is a four door, which has a 116" wheelbase. The 73 only has 112" I believe. Other than the 4 " difference, it should be close. I know headers are the same. My old ceramic coated Hookers are getting ready to go on my 76.
What black, you don't like the way old yeller purrs?

nope, it sounds awful, Im mostly interested in the Y pipe part, everything else should be ok, but the Y pipe is what im concerned about. Anytime you rev it up it blows a huge cloud of rust out and chunks, you should see my yard its full of rust chunks from the body and exhaust.

If they look similar & come out on the same side, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Worst case scenario is you cut off both Y pipes & they don't work. Since the 4 door's needs replaced anyways, I say go for it & post your findings.
