Nascar inspired S-3 project
I know I've put up a bunch of pics of my car on other threads but thought I'd start an "official" thread on my own car so I can post whatever updates on it. So here goes....

When I got it...All original 77 malibu classic with a 305 2bbl. 78,000 miles. Heat, a/c, cruise control, swivel seats...very nice cruiser. He also included everything to clone it into a Laguna. Front nose, window louvers, rear tail lights and tail light panel, and all the correct s-3 badges.

Re: Nascar inspired S-3 project
That's my car on the right. He had two or 3 numbers matching lagunas at the time. I had my choice of either 2 of the # matching lagunas or this malibu. The malibu was in better shape overall so we decided on it, plus the parts to convert it. I had to keep in mind it would be a daily driver for a while too.

Re: Nascar inspired S-3 project
I removed both front and rear inner bumper shells and tucked/narrowed the rear bumper. Took about 2 3/4in off EACH side. Tucks in nicely I think.

Re: Nascar inspired S-3 project
was having issues with the carb bowls getting hot and the car acting sluggish off idle. So made my own heat shield out of some scrap aluminum I had laying around. This is the cardboard template.

Re: Nascar inspired S-3 project
My car and my brother's 73. Has an odd and apparently rare window option on his. It has the full length window like most 73s but they added a plastic filler piece on the outside and made a inner interior panel to make it look like the 75/76 side windows. This was right before they started making the different quarter panels for 74 with the smaller window. I wasn't aware of it until we bought his car and had to look it up to be sure.
