Re: New paint
We just used a single stage paint. No base/clear coat. Shot it with one light coat of primer sealer. Let sit for 15 mins. Then shot it with 2 medium wet coats of paint. Done. No buffing or color sanding. I'm pretty happy with it and I know he's estatic to have it back to it's original paint scheme, and just painted again period. lol

Re: New paint
Thanks! I know it's not even a 4 figure paint job but it was a lot of work and I think it paid off in the end. And yes it looks even better in person. As far as cutting the bumper you can do that yourself easily enough. On his he kept the inner shell and shock absorber mounts. All I did was tak about a 2 1/2 or 3" section out of the ends right before where it wraps around the sides. And underneath I just cut the ends off the inner shell to make room for it to be more narrow. So the bumper still bolts to the shell inside and everything else is the same. Btw I used a saw zaw to make the cut and still got a 99.5% straight cut on the bumper so when we butted them up to weld it matched up perfectly.

Re: New paint
that is awesome. the fact that its not a 4 figure job is what I like. I am all about the deals and budget builds. heck I was even thinking about rolling mine. I've saw a few that turned out pretty nice. I have a spare bumper I may try it on some time. its not the cutting I am so worried about, but the welding. I have done some sheet metal years ago that turned out ok, but this is a bit different.

Re: New paint
Thanks everyone. We still have some nice weather ahead of us so we're planning on cruising together to a few more. The big one I'm looking forward to is the "last fling till spring" car show in West Point Nebraska. I guess they get 6-700 cars in that little town and it's a good show. Never been there so we"ll see. Looking forward to a nice hour cruise up there
