Re: Where are you at picture
I just dropped the tank yesterday laying on my back in the driveway. I just can’t get my Holley HP125 to pull the fuel from the tank. I think that this pump only works good with a sump. I am going to try to relocate the pump later tonight. I will pull fuel from a gas can, just not through my 1/2” tube sending unit.

Re: Where are you at picture
Unfortunately, You are correct. I was thinking of going with the same pump or one of the fancy brushless ones. I did some research & called Holley for some advice. They said all of their external pumps are designed to be used with a sumped tank, or a fuel cell. As you know, Our cars pull from the top of the tank. I decided upon a holley in tank unit. Everything went great at first. When I first installed it, I was getting 6psi steady dead nuts. After a few weeks and some hard pulls the car would nose over. Hooked the gauge back up and sure enough pressure was low. Called Holley and they sent me a new pump. I'll get it installed over the week-end.
The new pump came and shocker here: Made in the land of the corona virus!!!! Ticks me off. I hope this will not be an on going problem here. If it is, I'll match the specs to a good Walbro or Delphi pump. I even spent an extra $100 on a extra long sock to go towards the back of the tank since the pump assy is mounted up front.
Can you go mechanical? My newly installed gen 6 block has no provision for a mechanical pump.

Re: Where are you at picture
Yes, I can go mechanical as my block is a 1971 or so. I have a lot of time and energy invested in this system so I want to make it work, but I still may be forced to go mechanical. I bought the Robb 1/2 pickup and I don’t want to change that. Plus I have already wired everything up including the relay for the pump. If I do change over, I won’t be buying Holley. I am looking at the Edelbrock Victor pump right now. I definitely don’t want to sump my tank as it’s brand new as well. Plus, I had a sump on a street car in the past and every time I went around a corner fast I would run out of gas. This fuel issue is about the last thing standing in my way from my first drive down the road. I have had this car 7 years now and I have never driven it. I think it’s about time.

Re: Where are you at picture
The Victor pump is mechanical? I have read where Robb makes one hell of a good mechanical pump as well.
I hear you on the time & energy. I made phone calls, e mails, etc to avoid these very problems and I still ended up with one.

Re: Where are you at picture
Hey. It’s frustrating at best. I have read every Holley document and nothing is ever mentioned about it not working with a sending unit. It only states to mount it below the fuel level. It is pouring outside right now so I can’t get under the car. Maybe in the morning. The Victor pump is a machnical one for sure. I have it and an ARP pushrod in my Jegs’s cart right now.

Re: Where are you at picture
Kevin, if you go with a in-tank pump you can use hydramat fuel pickups that Holley offers to prevent fuel starvation during hard acceleration or cornering. The guys on the G Body forum seem to like it a lot, but it's expensive. Me being old skool, I'd do the mechanical pump and call it a day. It will definitely get you down the road.

Re: Where are you at picture
Well, I just ordered the machanical pump and pushrod for the Laguna. I must say that I am P****D off about having to do that. Nothing like getting whacked at the knees right at the end of a project. Now I have to get all of the relay wiring out along with the pump and sell them to recoup some of my money. A 50% loss for sure. So, if someone has a tank with a sump in it, I have a really nice pump for sell.

You won't be as upset when that beast fires up and you're tearing up the concrete and terrorizing the neighborhood!

Re: Where are you at picture
The only thing that I want to terrorize right now is Holley’s tech department. You know how I think, I am going to make the best of this situation. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. You didn’t think that I read those fortune cookies did you?

Re: Where are you at picture
Hey. G3pontiac stopped by today and it was monumental! We swapped out the fuel pump and redid some lines and the car started right up. Well, almost, but it now starts without even tapping the gas. I still need to iron out some things with the electric fans and do a valve adjustment, but it runs and sounds pretty amazing. Oh, by the way, we drove it around the cul-de-sac. This is the first time that I have ever driven this car. Things are getting closer to putting the Laguna on the road. Wow. I can’t thank g3pontiac enough. Great day.

I 2nd that! It was a great day. The engine sounds amazing. Even the neighbors pool guy had to come over and gaze at this beast that was making all that noise! Looks like Hot Rod Power Tour is right around the corner for RevinKevin!

Re: Where are you at picture
Hey. I have been working on my YouTube channel and I received an interesting like from Global West suspension. Kind of neat. The car drove a little further down the street yesterday. My power steering pump is leaking so g3chevy and myself took it apart. Looks like the auto parts store sold me a hose with a fitting that doesn’t match the pump they sold me. I am still having trouble with my Derale fan controller not working. I made a jumper to make it work. Some of the new parts are just DOA. Â They are new, but have been sitting on the car for a few years while I was taking my sweet time finishing up. Check out the picture from my like. Cheers.

This will be one fun Laguna once we get all the bugs worked out. Waiting for Kevin to quit doing that thing they call a "job" so we can finish this beast.

That was a lot of work. I was lucky enough to have the best Technical Advisor just this side of Raleigh/Durham. Even Cale Yarborough has called g3chevy for his input on his Laguna championship winning cars. True praise indeed.
