Corvette Metallic Yellow will be the color. Bought a 1/2 pint of Dupont Chromabase.

Test spray just base, no clear coat:

A couple coats of rattle can clear on it. Will do a few more test sprays and adjust pressure to get the color darker.

I just did the same thing with 3 different mixes of bright blue metallic. Thats a nice yellow, a hint darker would be good.

Joe, did you have the paint mixed darker or adjust the color by pressure and temp? I think if the temp is cooler and spraying pressure lower the metallic settles lower in the paint making it look darker.

I had the paint adjusted. Reason being its a metallic. I want to set the gun to the conditions of paint day so the metallics lay flat and everything flows out. For me its just one less thing to worry about.

I cant wait to get the color and clear on the Monte.

SPI has great products, fast shipping and the best customer support. Just ordered today, 2 gallons of gray epoxy, and a gallon of wax & grease remover.

Called them a couple weeks ago about what to put under my base coat and got a lot of good information.

Thanks, you guys will notice all the little details and panel fit/finish. Most people will never notice that the car has much better panel fit than original.

All Metal was used to get the front corners to match the fenders. The fit was horrible from the factory.

I love All-Metal. Feathers great, tough as nails, impervious to water, and never shrinks, cracks or gets pinholes. It's expensive and a bear to sand, though. Smile

I used it to fill in all my seams 30 years ago and it still looks great. The Monte looks much sleeker that way. The downside is I can't take the body apart without breaking it.
